Braces For Adults

Many people often associate braces with kids and young teens. The truth is that braces are actually becoming quite popular amongst young adults as well as adults. Braces serve as a tool to help correct improper bite problems and create a beautiful smile, regardless of what age you are.

Types of Braces for Adults:

  • Fixed Braces (Traditional Option)
Fixed Braces are attached to the front of teeth. The teeth are shifted by maneuvering wires which connect to the each of the brackets. Fixed braces generally take between nine months and two years for treatment. Upon removal, patients can wear a retainer to help maintain their teeth.

Ceramic Braces

Ceramic braces are similar to fixed braces, except they are made to match a similar shade as a person’s teeth. Subsequently, these braces are much less noticeable than fixed braces.

Lingual Braces
Lingual Braces are an alternative to fixed or ceramic braces. Though these braces may be more painful and uncomfortable for adults, they are nearly invisible. Lingual braces are fixed to the back of the teeth and provide an unorthodox solution.

Clear Braces
Clear Braces, also known as Invisalign, are greatly increasing in popularity. These braces, for adults, are worn for at least 18 hours per day and are removed during meals. Every few weeks, the braces are exchanged for a newly tweaked set. Clear braces are appearance-friendly and effective; however, they generally only work for people with mild to moderate orthodontic needs.
